C'est nouveau. C'est dans la nature.

The springtime blues: a relatively common complaint!

The days get longer, the temperature starts to rise, plants flourish and flowers being to bloom... all giving us plenty of reasons to feel great in both body and mind.

But this is not always the case, and there is a reason behind this phenomenon.

Throughout the winter months, our organisms have to fight infection whilst dealing with the cold and the lack of sunshine... When spring finally arrives, the body naturally needs to eliminate all the toxins it has accumulated, which often triggers a state of lethargy and sometimes even a slight bout of depression.

Moving the clocks forward also plays a part in bringing on this sudden wave of fatigue.

Researchers have investigated this complaint, and have come up with a few solutions that notably aim to give the organism a boost.

  • Monitor your diet: eat more fruit and vegetables, less fatty meats, fried foods and shellfish;

  • Eat raw foods such as deep sea fish or fresh fruit juice;

  • Compensate for sugar requirements by eating dried fruit and honey;

  • Try to get as much physical activity as brain activity;

  • Get sufficient sleep so as to allow your body to adapt to the rhythm of spring;

  • Opt for a course of dietary supplements that is rich in vitamins C and B,

ginkgo biloba, ginseng or Omega-3s, which all have proven beneficial effects when it comes to boosting your spirits and putting a spring back in your step.
