1 When must DUADOL be recommended?
DUADOL is particularly suitable for people who have painful joints, experience stiffness in the morning and have difficulty moving their joints.
DUADOL has been specially formulated for sensitive joints. The ingredients in DUADOL, omega-3s (particularly EPA), salicylic acid, contained in Filipendula ulmaria L., and harpagosides, from Harpagophytum procumbens L., have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Many scientific studies have described the benefits of omega-3s and herbal medicine on joint pain in patients suffering from arthritis and rheumatism in their joints.
2 Can DUADOL be taken with medical treatment?
DUADOL is a dietary supplement made from natural ingredients which carry no side effects at recommended dosages. It can be used in conjunction with medical treatment.
Omega-3 fatty acids can cause a reduction in platelet aggregation comparable to the effect of aspirin. If you experience coagulation problems or are taking anticoagulants, you are advised to consult your doctor, since one product may enhance the effect of the other. However, existing studies have not demonstrated increased bleeding time with doses of omega-3 of up to 3g/day (i.e. 10 DUADOL capsules).
3 From what age can a person follow a course of DUADOL?
DUADOL is a dietary supplement suitable only for adults. It is not suitable for children or adolescents.
4 How long must a person take DUADOL?
For best effect, it is very important to take DUADOL capsules regularly and continuously during a course.
The course must be adapted according to the intensity and frequency of joint pain.
Depending on different circumstances (climatic conditions, over-exertion etc.) some periods may be more painful than others. Therefore, following an intensive course is recommended, by taking DUADOL continuously over 2 to 3 months. This course must be extended as necessary. An improvement may be seen in the third week of use.
For an ongoing course, if you follow it as a matter of routine during periods when pain is more moderate, you can alternate 15 consecutive days per month, followed by 15 days without it.
If you suffer from more severe pain, DUADOL may be taken on a continuous basis with no side effects, at the recommended daily dosages.
Taking 3 capsules per day is recommended (one in the morning and two at night).
5 Is it possible to take aspirin and DUADOL at the same time?
The only possible medicinal interaction of omega-3s is with anti-coagulants and perhaps aspirin, where they can theoretically have maximise effects on blood fluidity. You should therefore consult your doctor if you intend to take omega-3 supplements and ask them to adjust the anti-coagulant treatment accordingly (generally by reducing your medicinal dosage).

6 I already take a dietary supplement based on omega-3s and I would like to follow a course of DUADOL, Is there a risk of taking too high a dose of omega-3s?
The daily amounts of omega-3s recommended by international health organisations (AFSSA, OMS and FDA) are 2 to 3g per day. A course of DUADOL implies an amount of 900mg of omega-3s per day. You can therefore adapt your dietary supplement to the effects you want.
Eskimos living in Northern Quebec consume up to 16g of fish oil per day and no harmful side effect has yet been observed from such consumption.
7 Each DUADOL capsule already contains vitamin E, Is there a risk of receiving too much vitamin E if I take it as well?
The dosage of vitamin E already contained in DUADOL capsules is intended to limit oxidation of the product during its shelf life.
It is too low (about 7.5mg per day or 10 units) for there to be any risk of too high a dose of vitamin E. The daily dosage of vitamin E which should not be exceeded is about 500mg (or 800 units). Over this dosage, it may carry a risk of bleeding, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, tiredness, increased arterial tension, or lowered resistance to infections.
8 What precisely are the known effects of Meadowsweet and Harpagophytum on joint pain?
DUADOL has been specially formulated to provide a gentle solution to the problems of sensitive joints. Herbal ingredients contained in DUADOL have been chosen specially from amongst other plants because their properties have been demonstrated in monitored clinical tests. Several scientific studies have described the benefits of meadowsweet and harpagophytum on joint pain.
Meadowsweet has been nicknamed herbal aspirin, as it contains salicylic acid, which is a precursor to aspirin. Aspirin prevents the synthesis of prostaglandins, found all over the body and synthesised in fevers and pains.
Salicylic acid gives meadowsweet anti-inflammatory properties used in the treatment of chronic rheumatism in the joints and arthrosis. Meadowsweet, or spirea (another name for meadowsweet) contains salicylic derivatives with properties which alleviate fever.
They have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, which are gentle, progressive and have a very good tolerance.
The roots of Harpagophytum are rich in harpagosides and known for their anti-inflammatory properties, suitable for fighting pain. The benefits of Harpagophytum in the treatment of arthrosis and rheumatic inflammation is now widely recognised.
9 Can I take DUADOL if I am suffering from arthritis, rheumatoid polyarthritis or ankylosing spondylarthritis?
Arthritis includes all inflammatory disorders which affect the joints, either chronic or acute.
Arthritis may take several forms, the most common being arthrosis, rheumatoid polyarthritis, infectional arthritis, juvenile arthritis, gout, fibromyalgia and psoriasic rheumatism (one of the symptoms of psoriasis).
Due to the anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of its constituents, DUADOL can be used to help soothe joints that are painful due to inflammation.
10 Does DUADOL have any effects if you are suffering from arthrosis?
Arthrosis is caused by deterioration of cartilage. Fragments of cartilage become detached, leading to inflammation and pain. DUADOL has no demonstrated effect on arthrosis as a whole but may contribute to soothing the pain it causes.
