Manufacture
OM3emotion is a pharmaceutical grade oil manufactured exclusively from wild fish (anchovies, sardines).
Every stage during the manufacture of OM3emotion is carried out according to Good Food or Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Practices “GMP” in order to guarantee production of oil with a satisfactory pharmaceutical quality complying with ISO 9001 standards. In addition to rigorous in-process controls conducted during manufacture, isodisnatura periodically contracts a certified independent laboratory to carry out an analysis of stocks of finished product in order to control quality during their shelf-life.
Most commercially available fish oils only contain 30% of omega-3 fatty acids (some only 15%). The remaining 70% of the oil consumed is rich in calories but not in benefits for health. OM3emotion has an extremely high omega-3 concentration (95%).
Shelf life
OM3emotion contains a protective dose of vitamin E (3 mg per gram of oil) which makes it possible to keep the omega-3 in a biologically active state and to limit the risk of peroxidation. Because of the presence of vitamin E, OM3emotion has a shelf life of 3 years if it is kept at a temperature of between 15 and 25°C in a dry place. On the contrary, exposure of the product to light and a high temperature reduces its life span and may damage the soft capsules. Quality
An independent organization (www.consumerlabs.com) which evaluates the quality of dietary supplements found that only one brand in four contains the actual quantity of ingredients stated on the label. The concentrations offered by OM3emotion are certified ISO 9001 and production is carried out according to “GMP " standards.
Certain products are contaminated by pollutants which are unfortunately widespread in the natural environment such as mercury (and other metals heavy), PCB or dioxin. The purification process imparting OM3emotion with its exceptionally high concentration also makes it possible to eliminate all the impurities which are usually contained in either farm-raised or wild fish. The levels of heavy metals (iron, arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, copper) and other pollutants (DDE, DDT, HCB) are certified to be below detection limits. In particular, the levels of PCB detected in batches of OM3emotion are less than or equal to 150 µg/kg, which is more than ten times lower than the standards established by the “Food and Drug Administration” (FDA) (2000 µg/kg), and more than six times lower than WHO standards (1000 µg/kg). Likewise, dioxin levels are lower than 2 picogTEQ/g in agreement with European regulations.
This guaranteed purity is essential for a natural product derived from the sea as seafoods are often contaminated.

Dose
The recommended initial dose of OM3emotion is 3 capsules per day, in one or more doses, for a daily intake of 1125 mg (1.125 g) of EPA and 150 mg of DHA corresponding to a total of 1.42 g of omega-3 per day. This corresponds to the quantity of EPA used in the most recent clinical studies.
The ratio of EPA fatty acid (the most important for emotional balance) compared to DHA is often insufficient (1.5/1 in fish meat, and almost always lower than 4/1); it is 7.5:1 in OM3emotion.
Taking the capsules
The capsules may be taken either in a single dose or divided into several doses during the day, as best suited for each individual.
Length of course
Scientific studies on the incorporation of essential fatty acids by cell membranes suggest that it takes about three months to compensate for a deficiency in omega-3 fatty acids and to completely renew tissues. It is therefore recommended to regularly take OM3emotion for three months to assess its effects (to improve this evaluation, it is recommended to answer the questionnaire on emotional wellbeing (link to the emotion test) and to repeat the test after three months). Improvements however are often noted during the first weeks of treatment.
After a three-month period, dosing with OM3emotion may be relayed by a diet very rich in omega-3 of marine origin (fatty fish and shellfish in particular) and poor in omega-6. If an improvement in emotional balance is obtained, the dose of OM3emotion may then be gradually reduced to two capsules per day and the effects should be measured again after three months. If there is no deterioration, the reduced dose is sufficient and a daily dose of a single capsule may be tested. If a deterioration is noticed, the dose should be increased again.
Medical experts in nutrition, as well as the FDA, (American Regulatory Agency) declared that doses of omega-3 of up to 3 g per day are “generally considered to be without danger” (8 g per day for the expert panel formed by the American Heart Association and published in the major cardiology journal Circulation ).
It should be remembered that the daily dose of three capsules of OM3emotion corresponds to 1.42 grams of omega-3.
Precautions
Certain people may present a temporary acceleration in intestinal transit. In rare cases, stools are soft or even liquid during the first week of administration. In this case, it is simply necessary to decrease the dose for one or two weeks, and then to try the higher dose again to see whether it is now well tolerated.
Omega-3 fatty acids may cause a reduction in platelet aggregation. Ask your doctor for advice if you suffer blood coagulation disorders or if you are taking anticoagulant treatment as the effects of the products may be potentiated. However, studies have not shown an increase in bleeding time with omega-3 doses of up to 3g per day (that is 7 capsules of OM3emotion).
If you must undergo a surgical operation, tell your doctor that you are taking this dietary supplement.
When shouldn't you take OM3emotion ?
OM3emotion is not recommended in persons presenting allergies to fish and shellfish.
Patients with pancreatic disorders (congenital malformations of the pancreas, chronic or acute pancreatitis) should avoid the consumption of fats in general. In these cases, administration of OM3emotion like all other food supplements containing essential fatty acids, is not recommended.
In the absence of any conclusive scientific data, use by pregnant women, during breast-feeding or in children is not recommended: Ask your doctor or pharmacist for their advice.
Possible interactions
The only possible drug interaction of omega-3 is with anticoagulants and possibly aspirin as they may theoretically increase the effects of these agents on the fluidity of blood. You should therefore inform your doctor that you intend to take omega-3 supplements and ask him to adjust the anticoagulant treatment where necessary (generally by reducing the dose of the drug, on the basis of the results of tests of clotting or bleeding times which are generally unchanged).
On the other hand, omega-3 are perfectly compatible with psychiatric drugs such as antidepressants (Prozac, Zoloft, Deroxat, Seropram, etc), lithium, or neuroleptics (Zyprexa, Haldol and others).
