OM3menopause is the first soy-free and hormone-free dietary supplement to be specifically formulated to combat hot flushes.
OM3menopause has a unique formula providing a 1g daily dose of EPA, a medically-proven effective treatment for hot flushes. OM3menopause helps reduce the number of hot flushes by 55% over a 2-month period.
(60 capsules per box)
OM3menopause is a dietary supplement used to supplement a varied diet as this alone ensures a good nutritional balance.
OM3menopause is not intended to replace or substitute for any medical treatment prescribed by your doctor.
Composition
Concentrated fish oil in the form of ethyl esters (measured at 90% Omega-3)
Non-GMO certified Natural Vitamin E extract (1.5 mg per capsule or 0.3 g per 100g of oil)
Containing: Wild fish gelatine, HPMC and glycerine.
Manufacture
OM3menopause is a pharmaceutical-grade oil manufactured exclusively from wild-caught fish (anchovies, sardines).
With OM3menopause, each step of the manufacturing process is performed in accordance with the appropriate pharmaceutical (“GMP” or Good Manufacturing Practices) and food standards. By conforming to the required ISO 9001 standard, we guarantee the highest quality of pharmaceutical oil. In addition to the strict controls carried out during the various stages of production, isodisnatura periodically sends stock samples of the product to an independent laboratory for analysis, thus monitoring the product's quality throughout its shelf life.
The majority of fish oils available commercially contain no more than 30% Omega-3, and some only 15%. The remaining 70% of the oil consumed is high in calories but has no benefits to health.
OM3menopause has the most abundant concentration of Omega-3 (90%) currently available.
In accordance with existing regulations on dietary supplements, OM3menopause contains no estrogens, progesterone, or derived hormones.
The absence of DNA from soy and soy isoflavones was tested in OM3menopause, and as such we are now offering you a single phytoestrogen-free formula.
Shelf life
OM3menopause contains a protective dose of vitamin E (3mg per gram of oil) that keeps the Omega-3 in a biologically active state and limits the risk of peroxidation.
The vitamin E present gives OM3menopause a shelf life of 3 years, when kept in a dry place at a temperature between 15 and 25°C. Exposing the product to light and a higher temperature reduces its shelf life and can damage the soft capsules.
Besides the strict controls performed during the various stages of production, isodisnatura periodically sends OM3menopause stock samples for independent laboratory analysis, thus monitoring quality throughout the product's shelf life (3 years).
Dose
The recommended initial dose of OM3menopause is 3 capsules per day, taken at 3 intervals throughout the day. It will account for a daily intake of 1050 mg of EPA and 150 mg of DHA, in other words a total of 1.35 g of Omega-3 per day. This corresponds to the amount of EPA used in the clinical trial.
The ratio of EPA (the most important fatty acid for thermoregulation) to DHA is often insufficient (equal to 1.5/1 in fish meat, and almost always lower than 4/1); it is 7:1 in OM3menopause.
Suggested administration
It is recommended that the capsules be consumed in several doses throughout the day, as best suits the individual.
Duration of treatment
Researchers in the Faculty of Medicine at Laval University have found proof that the Omega3 found in OM3menopause is effective in reducing women's hot flushes in early menopause.
They have highlighted a reduction in the number of hot flushes by 38% as of the 1st month and 55% from 2 months of treatment.
It is therefore recommended that OM3menopause be taken for at least 2 months from the onset of hot flushes, resuming the treatment for as long as the hot flushes are bothersome.
OM3menopause may also be taken from the age of 45 to prevent the onset of hot flushes related to the menopause.
Medical experts in nutrition, as well as the American regulatory body, the Food and Drug Administration, have stated that taking up to 3g of Omega 3 per day is "generally considered safe" (8g per day for panel of experts advising the American Heart Association, published in the leading cardiology journal, Circulation).
The daily dose of three capsules of OM3menopause corresponds to 1.35 grams of Omega 3.
Precautions
Some people may find that their intestinal passage is temporarily faster, and have more than one bowel movement per day. More rarely, bowel movements during the first week may be soft or even liquid. If so, simply reduce the dose for one or two weeks, and then try the higher dose again to see if it is tolerable.
Omega-3 may cause a reduction in platelet aggregation. Ask your doctor for advice if you suffer blood coagulation disorders or if you are taking anticoagulant treatment, as the effects of the products may be potentiated. However, studies have not shown an increase in bleeding time with Omega-3 doses of up to 3g per day (that is 7 capsules of OM3menopause).
If you must undergo an operation, inform your doctor that you are taking this nutritional supplement.
When should OM3menopause not be used?
OM3menopause is not recommended for people with fish or shellfish allergies.
Patients with pancreatic disorders (congenital malformations of the pancreas, chronic or acute pancreatitis) should avoid the consumption of fat in general.
As such, taking OM3menopause, or indeed any other nutritional supplement based on essential fatty acids, is not recommended in these cases.
In the absence of any conclusive scientific data, this supplement is not recommended for children and pregnant or breast-feeding women: seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
Possible interactions
The only interaction Omega-3 is likely to have is with anticoagulants and possibly aspirin, where it can theoretically enhance the reduction in blood viscosity. You should therefore inform your doctor that you intend to take Omega-3 supplements and ask him or her to adjust the anti-coagulant treatment accordingly. (Generally this will be by reducing the dose of medication, so that the results of coagulation tests or the bleeding time stay the same.)
On the other hand, Omega-3 is perfectly compatible with psychiatric medication such as anti-depressants (Prozac, Zoloft, Deroxat, Seropram, etc.), lithium, neuroleptics (Zyprexa, Haldol et al.), as well as being compatible with hormone replacement therapy.
